Employee development is a planned, collaborative process in which employees and managers share responsibility in order to balance individual developmental needs with Oxy's business requirements.
Training and Development
Oxy provides access to many in-house and external training and development resources. The company's Leadership Development Program is just one example.
Oxy also provides instructor-led and e-learning opportunities for personnel development. Contact your Human Resources representative or the Employee and Organization Development Team (E&OD) for help in identifying the appropriate development solution for you.
For technical development needs, Oxy provides a variety of training solutions including PetroSkills, computer skills and specific functional skills training. You can locate these training programs through your manager and function chief.
Educational Assistance Program
Oxy encourages continuous self-development by providing educational assistance to eligible full-time, regular employees who successfully complete pre-approved courses of study.
Upon successful completion of each course of study, employees generally will be reimbursed for 100 percent of all tuition, required texts, laboratory fees, parking and entrance examination fees, for a maximum of two courses per grading period.
International Development Programs
Oxy's international operations have ongoing, comprehensive programs in place to recruit and train national employees for jobs at all levels of the company. This is a key process in emerging countries striving to enhance economic development, transfer technical expertise to the work force, increase national employment and reduce dependence on expatriate workers.
In Oman, for example, Oxy is committed to "Omanization," an initiative to increase the number of Omani employees in Oxy's work force and maximize technical expertise for the benefit of the host country.
